Over the past ten years, GIGASTORAGE has established a
key position in the optical storage market and related technologies.
From the initial CD-R/RW discs through to the current development of
DVD-R/RW media, we have always led the industry in terms of product
compatibility and speed. Looking into the future, the company is
prepared to carry out R&D and mass production for Blu-Ray DVD or
HD-DVD as well. New applications for optical media such as
healthcare and finance are also being actively explored.
These are expected to expand both the breadth and depth
of GIGASTORAGE optical products and help increase company profits.
Materials and Components
Material technology has always been the key to
GIGASTORAGE's success. The company has expanded its expertise to
cover all aspects of optical disc manufacturing, including dye
synthesis/analysis technologies used to formulate dyes and
develop processes for high-speed CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs.
For the future, beyond developing the dye formulae for the
next-generation of high-capacity Blue-Ray discs, GIGASTORAGE
has also worked with the Industrial Technology Research
Institute to develop coating technologies applicable to
printed circuits and IC packaging substrate.
Other projects involving chemical materials are also
under way in collaboration with ITRI aimed at
developing a greater range of special-purpose
chemical materials and key electronic components.
With our expertise in optical discs and optical disc player technologies, GIGASTORAGE has also developed MP3 format CD Players, CD duplicators, DVD players and recorders. Our progress in this sector has achieved success with orders for hand-held gaming and playback devices from a major American toy company. Apart from continuing to work in consumer electronics IC design in the future, GIGASTORAGE plans to offer technology integration services for our customers so we can grow and prosper together.
According to Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) statistics, the worldwide production estimate of solar cell was 1,727 MWps in 2005, and estimated the production of 2010 will reach to 2,820 MWp with high growth rate up to 30% every year. Due to the Photovoltaic industry grows rapidly, the demand of silicon increases sharply. Therefore, developing the Photovoltaic material industry is becoming a key successful factor. Now we are pushing to develop the Photovoltaic Material Industry in order to establish a complete Photovoltaic Material Industry in Taiwan. The constructing environment and developing technologies are the main directions for planning a roadmap of Photovoltaic Material Industry. We will focus on investigating the Photovoltaic Material Industry to conducting a development strategy. In addition, we will guide potential domestic material manufacturers to work with solar cell systems manufacturers for developing application technologies, and assist in importing or investing the related important technologies such as silicon, silver paste, aluminum paste, low-iron glass and etc. The goal of developing Photovoltaic Material Industry is to build up a self-sufficient ability, and enhance competition ability in order to make Taiwan to be significant in Photovoltaic Industry.
